Make Love to Life: A Reflection on Presence, Time, and Creative Stewardship

In drawing for the business, I’m beginning to see more and more how precious and fragile time really is. Maybe it’s age. Maybe it’s growth. And like you, I’m counting my blessings and forever grateful for the work I get to create.
We’re all on different paths. It took time to build this business, launch it, and maintain it. And while I don’t carry the growing pains of a team of 10, 20, 200, or 2,000 people, I do carry the weight of being a team of one. Operations, financials, designing, inventory, quality, marketing, research—all of it rests on me.
But that’s okay. I chose this.
And in choosing it, I’m seeing something clearly: presenceis everything. Connection. Relationships. Laughter. Family. Community. Those things matter, too, and the business is a stewardship, a gift I’m happily responsible for.
As I create, write, photograph products, capture nature shots for articles, everything keeps circling back to one honest truth:
Make love to life.
Not in a romantic sense, but in a presence sense. In a gratitude sense. In a this moment matters sense.
Time Is Precious, But It Doesn’t Have to Pressure You Time is something we can’t get back. But time doesn’t have to scare us into rushing, nor does it have to push us into reckless choices as if everything is slipping away.
We can live comfortably in the middle, which is far different than settling.
With all the ins‑and‑outs of your work and my work, let's make time to be in the moment. Life holds the good and the bad, the highs and the lows. We take it all in. We let the good parts shine, and we learn from the rest.
This design cycle (florals, secret passageways, quotes, bookish illustrations) keeps bringing me back to love and life, life and love. So, what exactly does making love to life look like? The best part is you get to decide. Maybe it’s: - Curating your day with intention - Adding vibrant colors to your home - Volunteering and being there for others - Slowing down enough to notice what’s already good - Bringing romance into how you decorate your space - Living the life you want now instead of waiting for retirement
And when challenges come, because they will, we don’t stop dancing forever. We don’t let comments paralyze us. We don’t let setbacks define us. We keep the relationship with life going, in all its forms.
We stay present, grateful, and awake to what matters.
